Electronic - Printed Circuit Board and Small Dimension Fuses
Because these fuses can be used in consumer electronic and electrical equipment sold into the European Union, Cooper Bussmann has proactively pursued and attained RoHS compliance for the majority of these fuses. The need for compliance is highly dependent on the application of the fuse as many are also used as components in a "large-scale stationary industrial tool" or a "fixed installation." These are deemed to be outside the Directives' scope per the European Commission's "Frequently Asked Questions" paper regarding coverage.

In general, square body high-speed fuses are compliant, as well as most BS 88 style fuses. The North American and Ferrule style high speed use lead to make electrical connections. If RoHS compliance is desired, consider using an equivalent square body or BS 88 high speed fuse having similar performance characteristics.

Surge Suppression Devices
Cooper Bussmann is actively pursuing eliminating the hazardous substances specified in the RoHS Directive for some of these products. However, these products, as a group, are exempt from the WEEE and RoHS Directives and do not affect current inventories because they are:
- Not generally used in finished consumer products shipped to the European Union countries where the WEEE and RoHS Directives are in effect.
- NOT within the scope of the RoHS and WEEE Directives per WEEE, Category 6, Annex IB: "Machines or systems consisting of a combination of equipment, systems, finished products and/or components, each of which is designed to be used in industry only, permanently fixed and installed by professional at a given place in an industrial machinery or in an industrial building to perform a specific task. Not intended to be placed on the market as a single functional unit."
- Spare parts according to RoHS, Article 2, Scope (3) "This Directive does not apply to spare parts for the repair, or to the reuse, of electrical and electronic equipment put on the market before 1 July 2006." Further, the Orgalime Guide, Section 3.7 on Spare Parts; " Unless they are within the scope in their own right, spare parts, even if sold directly to the end user, are not within the scope of the WEEE Directive." This position is further supported in the RoHS Frequently Asked Questions section 1.8.
